JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Project Driver, JHUCCP Ghana
Report to: Finance & Administration Manager
Job Overview: This position is to chauffeur staff, consultants, and materials to authorized locations and also carry out pickup and delivery duties as required. The Driver employed on the Ghana Malaria Vector Control Project is bound by the policies and procedures prescribed in the Transport Policies and Procedures Manual of the JHU-CCP Ghana Office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Drive project staff to authorized destinations for the following purposes:
1.1. conveying of project staff, consultants and other authorized programs support persons to meetings, workshops etc.; and
1.2. distribution of letters and other relevant documents to facilitate programs delivery.
2. Keeping the assigned vehicle in good shape for programs delivery at all times by:
2.1. ensuring the vehicle is in good working condition before making any field trip;
2.2. requesting for authorization to send vehicle for servicing when due;
2.3. ensuring vehicle Roadworthy and Insurance Certificates remain valid all the time; and
2.4. keeping the vehicle ever neat.
3. Keeping good record of the vehicle’s use, performance and fuel consumption by:
3.1. keeping a log of all trips undertaken with vehicle;
3.2. accurately recording all fuel purchases and maintenance services in the approved log book; and
3.3. ensuring the above records are duly signed by the appointed officials.
4. Carry out other relevant duties as required such as:
4.1. providing support services on field trips, workshops and meetings to technical staff on duty;
4.2. photocopying and collating documents for field programs and other necessary duties.
5. Adhere strictly to all traffic and driving regulations and laws of Ghana.
Required Qualifications:
- A valid Driver’s License issued by the Ghana Driver and Vehicles Licensing Authority (DVLA).
- Basic mechanical skills
- Five or more years of driving experience with demonstrated safe driving skills
- Good knowledge of Ghanaian culture and geography
- Good organization and time management skills
- Familiarity with common administrative tasks
- Good oral and written English language and ability to communicate in the common Ghanaian languages.
- A warm and respectful character.
